Several heavy rain events this spring have put us above average for precipitation so far this year. Since January 1 Oklahoma City has received 10.5 inches of precipitation, which is 3.5 inches above normal to date.
And how do we stack up to last year at this point? Right now we are only about an inch behind last year’s record rainfall. But don’t expect another record breaker this year, last year had just too many historical events for us to have a real shot at that. But it will still be interesting to see just how close we come if the trend continues. One factor that could contribute to more above normal rain this spring and summer is whether or not the La Nina conditions observed last year will persist or continue to deteriorate.
Short term though things are looking dry. In the next 7 days only Thursday has a chance for rain. Enjoy the sunshine this week and stay tuned to the KOCO weather team for all the latest.

I believe La Niña would probably stay long. At least we won’t get much heat temperature during the summer holidays..
I just hate it if storms and rain would hit our place…
