Oklahoma Loses Title

After holding the title of ‘TORNADO CAPITAL OF THE WORLD” for almost 2 months, Oklahoma has falling in the standings to third as both Kansas and Texas leap frogged over us. Am I surprised by this? No, not really. The severe weather pattern is now shifting into its summer time mode, which is in The Northern Plains and High Plains. The Texas Panhandle was still in a good area about 2 weeks ago to see tornadoes as was The Oklahoma Panhandle. But, Kansas, especially Northern Kansas is still prime to see some tornadoes during mid June and that is where most of the activity has been. I listed Colorado in the honorable mention category. After being way down on the list for months now, The High Plains of Colorado are seeing their severe weather season kick into high gear. They are currently in 5th place, 1 tornado report shy of Mississippi. I expect to see Colorado in the #4 position within the next week or so.
