Heat And A Chance Of Storms

Remember the Sunny and Cher song, “The Beat Goes On”?. Well we could easily say The Heat Goes On.  If you’re too young to remember Sunny and Cher…don’t sweat it.  Although you’re probably sweating anyway.  Once again, humidity levels are through the roof today.  Here are some mid afternoon dew point readings:

Dew points in the upper 70s is just ridonkulous!  That’s right, not ridiculous…ridonkulous.  Combine that moisture with low to mid 90stemperatures, and you have dangerously high heat index values:

We’re currently under high heat warnings and those have been extended into Thursday evening:

But there is hope for a cooling thunderstorm late tomorrow.  A cold front will slip into southern Kansas and northern Oklahoma tonight and Thursday.  This will bring a shot at a few thunderstorms:

By Friday the front will be over central Oklahoma with spotty storms possible:

Any relief in temperature will be cancelled out by higher humidity from the rain.  In any event, the forecast remains hot and humid with a chance for a few storms in the state Thursday into Friday.
