Today’s Severe Threat

Not much time to chat, I’ll post the severe weather risk, then start coordinating with our chopper and our chase crews. Here is the risk.

The Storm Prediction Center has placed most of Oklahoma under a SLIGHT RISK for severe weather today. And while the risk for severe storms will exist, there will be varying chances of severe storms throughout the day. Here is what I mean:

There is a risk for hail at the onset of storms as we will see scattered storms in Northern Oklahoma, especially around 4pm. As the storms become more numerous, they will form a line of storms that will likely extend from NE Oklahoma to The Texas/Oklahoma state line. These storms will then start to lose their hail threat and become more of a wind risk. As they approach The Metro, which will occur around 6pm or so, the moisture content will increase to the point where we could be measuring rain in the inches here.

Be prepared for heavy rain, that will certainly help with the drought.
