Hello Fall…Where’s Your Weather?

It’s officially here. Fall has arrived. Of course, this is also the Autumnal Equinox, where the length of day and night across he world is nearly, but not entirely, equal. This is because the day is slightly longer in places that are further away from the equator, and because the sun takes longer to rise and set in these locations. The sun takes longer to rise and set farther from the equator because it does not set straight down, it moves in a horizontal direction.

The word equinox derives from the Latin words meaning “equal night.” In what could be categorized in the little known fact division: The Greek astronomer Hipparchus is credited has having discovered the precession of equinoxes.

So now that Fall is here, where’s its weather?
