Sunday’s Severe Risk

October is usually a month known for kicking out a little bit of severe weather here. So far, it’s been bone dry, but that may be changing this afternoon as The Storm Prediction Center has placed portions of the state as having a risk for severe storms.

The best time for any severe storms won’t be until after 3:00pm. And while the risk for severe storms is there, it may be a rather low end chance for severe storms. Here are how the threats are panning out right now:

This will not be a classic spring time set-up like we get in May. Instability will be there, but it may be tough to squeeze out some severe stuff. Hail size will stay in the “change” variety. That is, quarters, dimes, nickle, etc. The wind threat will be there but the tornado threat will not.
