Cleaning Up The New Years Mess…

While most areas in Oklahoma were experiencing relatively quiet conditions to end the 2010, the Mississippi Valley was slammed with a Tornado Outbreak.  This came after very moist air infiltrated much of the area and cold, dry air busted in and took over.  There were 47 reports of tornadoes, 62 Wind damage reports and 30 Hail reports.

This picture is from the Storm Prediction Center and shows where these reports were.  The Local National Weather Service Offices are still assessing the damage.  So far after doing a little research, the assessments so far have pointed to EF-0 to EF-3 strength Tornadoes.  One good thing, is that much of the week will be dry in these areas, and that means the clean up can continue.
