In The Lead…

I don’t know if this is one of those rankings where you wanna see your name on the list. But, if you’re keeping tabs at home on what state so far holds the title for most twisters this year, then the answer may surprise you. So, as of yesterday, here is how the states rank in the hunt for the 2011 tornado crown.

Right now, Louisiana has had the most tornadoes within the state limits with 39, followed by Tennessee with 26, Florida with 22, Alabama with 20 and Iowa at 18. Minnesota, which lead the nation with most tornadoes last year currently has had none. Oklahoma has had a few close calls, but officially, we haven’t had a tornado within our state lines. I believe this is a competition that I wouldn’t mind seeing us lose.
