Heavy Rain Possible?

After sweating through the month, some relief may be in sight as a cold front is expected to move through the region late Monday/Tuesday morning. And, it’s about time. Even better is the fact that we could get some much needed heavy rainfall. OK, now here’s the bad news. The threat for severe weather does exist with hail and winds being our main concerns, and even worse, the heavy rainfall may not fall over an area that needs it more than anywhere else. And, that’s in Western Oklahoma.

So, how much rain are we talking here? If we look at the NAM Model, then we could see around 1.25″ of rain. The GFS Model isn’t as generous and only squeezes out .20″ of rain for the Oklahoma City area with most of the heavy rain falling southeast of Oklahoma City toward Ada and McAlester.

And while we may be a bit iffy on the rainfall right now, we’re certain that the 100s we’ve had going on here for a few days now will finally come to an end…. thank goodness!
