Hottest July Ever?

A few weeks ago I joked saying that it would be extremely difficult for this July to go down as the hottest ever on record. Now, I’m starting to think I may have been a bit premature in saying that statement. Our average temperature this month is on pace of shattering the previous record for hottest July ever. Yes, I know we’re only 11 days into the month and there is still a lot that could happen. But, given the duration of the heat, and how far above normal we are with our temperatures, we would need to see a stretch of significantly cooler weather compared to what we have now. And, by that I mean a stretch of highs barely above 90°, maybe not even 90°. Could it happen? Sure, it is possible. But, given the 2 week outlook that takes us all the way towards the end of the month, I highly doubt it:

Our warmest period of the entire year is usually from the last few days of July to the first few days of August. Yikes… not a time of the year that I want to be forecasting above normal temperatures.
