‘Tis The Season

It’s finally December. Where in the world did this year go? As we head into the final weeks of fall and into winter, there comes new expectations to our weather and what is deemed “normal” for Oklahoma City in December. So, what exactly is normal? The graphic above tells ya what you need to know. But keep in mind, sometimes “normal” is the average of extremes. What do I mean? The average monthly snowfall is about 1.8 inches, but sometimes freak events do happen and bring us much more than that. Just go back 2 years to our Christmas Eve blizzard for a refresher course.

As for temperatures, highs shhould still be in the 50s and lows around freezing. But, when looking at the extremes that can arrive with this month, our warmest temperatures is 86 degrees and our coolest, 8 below zero. I’m ok with hitting 86 degrees… -8… meh, maybe next year.
